I've had no issues except 1 time I did something really rare (and in retrospect silly) but I was able to fix it.
In that case I had renamed an attribute, to A then then renamed attribute B to the former name of Attribute A. When I published I got an error about duplicates. The fix was easy though, just appended a '1' published, then changed them back and published again.
Other than odd cases, seems like not a big deal. If you have style rule you might need to fix them by hand, but I think everything else is auto-pilot.
