Question about BO Rule invokation mechanics

I'm not entirely sure how to frame this question but here goes...

I have Parent, Child, and Grand-Child BOs which have rules invoked on data change events in all three. I would also like to set up some rules that if Grandchild is updated, it will invoke rules at the parent which would then envoke rules at the parent.

So I think my question is are BO rules invoked at the the UI or Database? In other word does a instance change by any method invoke the the rules for a spefied BO.

Hi,

If values of a referred attribute are changed, This usually triggers rule evaluation of the parent. You can turn this behaviour off by means of a tick box in the "Advanced" tab of the rule but the default is rule evaluation WILL be triggered.

Have to confess, never tried it with three nested levels, but I have a rule which recalculates account balances if one of the referred tranaction values is changed and it works fine
