Ordering Sample Application

Got a question. Using the sample Ordering application and when creating a new PurchaseOrder for the selected Customer.

How do you define a rule or set up the relationships between PurchaseOrder-LineItem-Product so that I can override the price of the Product/LineItem? I want to create a PurchaseOrder and select Products, but I need to be able to update/override the price of the Products in that particular PurchaseOrder only. This way the original attributes of the Product does not change.

I tried to make the Price field editable just like the Quantity field, but when i Save the PurchaseOrder, it reverts back to the original Price defined in the Products table, I guess its the way the relationships are setup where the Products is linked to LineItem and to the PurchaseOrder.

You need to define a price in the LineItem object. Originally the price should be initialised to the price of the related product (you need a rule for this). Then you can make this price editable and it shouldn't be overwritten if your rules are correct.

If you want to know why the price is reverted back in your current app, check the output of the LogViewer to see how the rules are executed.

Could you give me some insight on how I am to define such rule so that the LineItem Price is initialized from the Product, and it wont be updated even if I update the Product record or save the PurchaseOrder?

I wrote my Business Space very similar to the sample Ordering application.

LineItem.Price = LineItem.Product.Price
