Ver 5.0 Offline Capabilities

We are not planning offline support in the near future. We may support GPS in the next Aware IM release.

I know the concept of offline data does not fit into the design of AwareIM because of the way rules engine works. A rules engine running on the client does not make sense

However in some cases it would be nice to store static information offline, like a list of contacts , recent orders , etc etc. Something that does not use rules. Also, maybe a transaction could be stored offline and then processed when connectivity is re established.

So a kind of hybrid offline feature, where no rules are resolved could be quite dynamic. I am sure this is all very possible within the current HTML5 and JavaScript setup of AwareIM. It would also get rid of the latency of mobile applications

The whole mobile/ IPAD thing needs some kind of offline functionality for serious business applications and I think this concept should be reconsidered.

Are there any others out there with the same thoughts or maybe have some input with this regard

I would love to see some type offline capable that would sync once network connectivity is available. I also think phonegap type api integration would be good so that we could interface with native features of the phone like gps,contacts,camera,etc.

I think of this as nice to have features. Not must have at this point in time. I hope awaresoft keeps these type capabilities in mind for future versions down the road.

I would agree, offline caching is a must especially when AwareIM supports devices like the iPad, iPhone and iPod.
