Hello everyone..

I have a order header table which have a attribute of "date".

I wish to create a form which allow user to select date from and date too...

how do i do that? can anyone advice me..

i have a object call order and attribute called: order_date (date field)

I have create a search form which able to perform the search to retrieve the report according to the date range.

present i pull the attribute order date and enter: between 01-01-2010 and 31-01-2010

how to show the above on the search form.

Date From:
Date To:
Customer Name:

so my query automatically take care as date from and date to to retrieve the report.

Try:

Find Order where Order.Order_Date between ?'From' AND ?'To' AND Order.Customer_name CONTAINS ?'Customer Name'

Note - this is a standard Query and does not use a custom form but would achieve the results you require.

Obviously Customer_name is just a guess as to what you've called that attribute. Replace this with your actual attribute name

Customer Name:

How to configurate that the Customer Name is a drop down (link to the Customer Object) instead of Text Box?

You would need to make the attribute Orders.Customer_Name have a choice list with dynamic choices.

i have create a attribute on the order object ... customername already and the presentation is drop down to select the customername from the customer object.

but I build the query, the customer name show as Text Box rather than drop down.

Anything I did wrong? Please advice.. million thanks.

Hi ,

I'll need to try it for myself first. This works fine with static lists so maybe it cannot be done with dynamic choices.

An alternative method would be to create a non-persistent BO (say - NPBO) with three attributes, date1, date2 and customer with customer being a dynamic choice list

Create an entry form.

Then a process which would be something like:

ENTER NEW NPBO
FIND Orders WHERE Orders.Order_Date BETWEEN NPBO.Date1 AND NPBO.Date2 AND Orders.Customername=NPBO.Customer

I have extended the search to share:

ENTER NEW NPBO

If NPBO.Customer IS UNDEFINED Then
DISPLAY OrderHeader WHERE OrderHeader.Date BETWEEN NPBO.DateFrom AND NPBO.DateTo
ELSE
DISPLAY OrderHeader WHERE OrderHeader.Date BETWEEN NPBO.DateFrom AND NPBO.DateTo AND OrderHeader.Customer=NPBO.Customer

I call back the Order query and display the query result.

Check whether the Customer Name is Defined. If not, show all between the date range otherwise filter the customer name and the date range...

Has anyone managed to do a advanced search ?

I have achieved what is described above and it works with DateFrom, DateTo, Company...(3 fields)..
but what happens if you want to ad other fields like Country, City???

Example: Search Orders from July for CompanyA in NewYork and in same search form if the city is not selected to show all orders from COmpanyA???

BUT has anyone tried another solution (with search forms like I described)?

Doesn't my demo that you referenced show an example of searching for an attribute selected for search with an ALL option as well ... just like you are using in your example with City specified or ALL?

the issue with your example is that after 2 or 3 filters I get thit error:

"RegularUser has been changed by another user. Please get the latest version of the data and try the operation again."

I have added the process "Filter" in RegularUser's FilterForm at AutoRefresh, but no luck.

anyone has a solution on this?

You have to make sure that EVERY process that updates the RegularUser is included as an Auto Refresh process on the search form. I also add RegularUser in the lower section of the Auto Refresh specs on the form.

Hi,

I have a ShowTip which is running in background on every 15 seconds. I observed that when a tip appears than the error appears too.
I have included this process ShowTip in AutoRefresh of the form processes but no result...

It's true that this process updates RegularUser with NextTip attribute...

Any idea?
I wouldn't remove this process, because I'm using it to give information to the users.

Unless something has changed since 03/28/12, a query auto refresh is not sensitive to processes running in the background.

Easiest way to determine which process is the issue would be to temporarily eliminate the process & see if the issue goes away.
