Change File Extention for Text Document

We have a Meeting Manager application where Appointments are defined in AwareIM. We would like to send eMail reminders to the Attendees of meetings. As part of this eMail reminder we would like to Attach a iCalendar file (.ics) This is in essence a Text file but we need the file extension to show .ICS when added to a Notification as a document.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Are you talking about an ICS file that represents AwareIM Calendar events or some other ICS file.

If it is an external file, you can attached it to the email & it will keep the proper extenstion.

I think this is possible , if you study the layout of the ICS file in a text editor you can duplicate this by exporting the contents of your Appointment object.

You would have to do some formatting of the data before the export of the data takes place, maybe create some additional attributes in the Appointment object that lets you build/format the data in the correct format. Then export to file with .ics extension and reference in your Appointment object
and then attach in your email

Thanks for the replies - it helped me get through the "Block"

I finally decided to create a .txt Text Document Template that has the structure of the .ics file. This file contains Tags that are replaced by an instance of a Appointment object that is in context.
I the export this file as .ics and import it again into an Attachment Attribute defined in the Notification that is sent out as eMail.

This is most probably not the most elegant solution, but I prefer having all the document and object definitions defined and managed within the BSV.
