This is for info only.
During our recent membership renewal process, a letter is generated for each member which pulls data from the BO's. This year's letter contained a couple of paragraphs with hanging indents which should have had the effect of making the layout look like:
some text here xxxx xxx xx x
a. some more text here xxx xxx xxx
b. some more text here xxxx xxx xxx
now back to standard unindented text here
the process then either attaches the document to an email for those members with email addresses or generates a paper letter for those without email addresses (yes there are still a few around)
Last year it worked faultlessly (there were no hanging indents) This year the log was full of "Failed to fill a document with data" (can't remember the exact wording) and the document was NOT attached to the email, although the email minus attachment was sent.
The paper letters had in place of the a. and b. (the characters immediately proceeding the hanging indent hidden character) instead had:
Letter 1
aaaaaaaaaaaaa
bbbbbbbbbbbbb
Letter 2
ccccccccccccccc
ddddddddddddd
and so on through the alphabet where they then started again at aaaaaaa
Moral of the story - don't use hanging indents in Word Document Templates
Note: using Office 203 on server
