Error with Testing

OK. not sure what happened to my system but I have a business space version that I am updating and I cannot test anymore. I get an error message

"Exception changing the status of the business space version Aware IM Server is not responding. please make sure the server is running"

My current loaded version is up and running. I tried testing both with existing data and no no initial data and I get the same error message. I also noticed that the BASDBTEST database file (22MB) is much larger that the BASDB (5MB). Not sure if it has anything to do with it.

Have you rebooted your machine & restarted the AwareIM server?

yes I did reboot the server already hoping the error would go away. I can still publish, I just cannot test it first.

I normally run the Cofig Tool on my desktop computer so when I got the error and after rebooting the server I even tried launching the Config Tool on the server itself and test it from there but I still get the error.

I maybe wroing but I have a feeling it has something to do with the existing data in the BASDBTEST. I was testing a new version of a business space earlier (adding new attributes to BO's) but ended up deleting it. So now the new business space version I am working on has different attributes.

Try exporting your work to a BSV file, creating a new business space and importing the BSV into this new business space.

try increasing the memory allocated to the config tool

just tried exporting my Current version of the BS to a file then creating a minor version and then importing it from the saved BSV file. I tried to test first with no initial data but got the same error and then test it again with existing data but got the same result.

i am going to try increasing the memory in my config tool.

tried the memory in control panel settings, increase the memory of config tool from 64mb to 128mb and still unable to test.

does anyone have any another suggestion to fix my problem? I am still unable to test my business space even after increasing the memory in the configuration. i just hate to be publishing new versions without testing them first.

OK I think I just discovered what might the problem be.

I went to open Microsoft SQL Management Studio and checked the BASDBTEST database and when I tried to list the tables. It gave me an error. It seem like my BASDTEST is corrupted.

How do I fix or re-create the BASDBTEST?

I think I just made my problem worse. I read in the forum that I can manually delete BASDBTEST and it will be re-created when AwareIM Starts.

So I did that and now I cannot even start the AwareIM service. I did make a backup of my BASDB and Business Space before I deleted the BASDBTEST. Should I delete the BASDB as well then restart the service? I can just copy the business space and the data from my backup.

In real world database corruptions may happen... And they will happen.

This is why you need to create regular database backups. If a problem like this happens you need to restore the database from the backup

At first, I just deleted the BASDBTEST and BASDB and restarted the server, but that did not fix my problem. So I ended up uninstalling AwareIM from my server and and re-installing it all over again. I did backup the BASDB db and my current BSV before I did any of these steps.

So I should be able to just create a new BSV and import from my backup BSV right? At this point I am not even worried about losing all the data since we have been using it only for less than month and just a handful of quotes are saved which we can re-enter. I just want to have the BSV up and running and be able to test and publish like I used to.

I am going to try working on this again tomorrow.
