I'm looking forward to the release of 5.0 .. hopefully soon ... Plenty of very useful new features as outlined in the release notes below. (Got permission from support to post this here)
====================
Aware IM 5.0 is a new release containing a number of new features, improvements and bug fixes.
The list of new features and improvements is shown below:
1. Aware IM applications can now be developed for mobile devices (all iOS platform devices such as
iPad and iPhone as well as devices that support Google Android operating system).
Please read the "Mobile Applications" document located in the DOCS directory of your Aware IM
installation for details how to develop applications for mobile devices and run sample mobile applications.
Known problems for Android devices (we are working on them for the final release):
a) Password fields show characters
b) When entering text for input fields the screen jumps up and down
c) Audio and video do not work
- New calendar with drag and drop
The calendar has now new look and feel and fully supports drag and drop in all views. The example of the
new calendar is in the CRM sample application (it is on the dashboard).
- Dynamic charts with onclick handler and prompts[/b]
It is now easy to include charts into your Aware IM screens. The charts are dynamic, i.e. the values are
shown when the user hovers the mouse over them. Also an operation can be configured to be performed when
the chart is clicked. An example of the chart is in the CRM sample application (it is on the dashboard)
4. Custom data view for queries
It is now possible to specify custom HTML template to be shown in the query results. There are predefined
templates that show query results as thumbnails, as multiple lines etc. You can define your own templates.
Queries with custom data view are extensively used in all sample applications for mobile devices.
You can also see examples of them in the Ordering sample application - lists of manufacturers displayed
for the customer login.
5. Row editor for queries and references
Inline editing for queries can now be done not only for the individual cell, but for the entire row as well.
See the example of such an editor in the CRM sample application (a list of customers on the dashboard and
on the Customers tab)
6. Support for checkbox groups
It is now possible to show attribute choices as checkbox groups and specify different layouts for how
these groups will be displayed. The layout options also apply to radio buttons. An example of the checkbox
group is in the CRM sample application (the Interests attribute on the Customer form)
- Multiple search attributes in queries
It is now possible to specify more than one "search attribute" for the query results screen.
See the example in the list of customers shown on the dashboard of the CRM application
- Add new record for queries[/b]
It is now possible to add new records during inline editing of queries
9. Ability to resize/drag and dynamically create events on the scheduler
The scheduler now allows to dynamically create, resize and drag events. The example of a scheduler is
in the CRM sample application
10.Ability to hide labels for attribute cells
It is now possible to hide labels for attribute cells in forms (previously it was only possible to do this
for HTML cells). An example is in the CRM sample application (Photo attribute on a customer form)
This is also extensively used in mobile applications
11.Ability to show custom templates for references represented as drop downs
It is now possible to provide a custom HTML template to show references represented as drop downs.
This is similar to displaying query results using custom templates (see item 4). An example of such a
drop down is in the Ordering sample application (a list of products shown for the staff member when he
creates or changes the line item)
- Support for summaries for groups in queries
It is now possible to show summaries for individual groups in grouped queries. See an example in the
CRM sample application in the Correspondence tab.
- Ability to implement custom content panels in visual perspectives[/b]
It is now possible to implement content panels of visual perspectives using custom Javascript code
- Ability to display icons on form buttons[/b]
Icons can now be displayed on buttons in forms. All sample applications have this feature enabled.
15.Ability to specify default operation
It is now possible to explicitly indicate that a particular operation defined for queries or references
will be the "default" operation, i.e. executed when the user clicks on the item.
