Table of Items - Group By Question

It appears that when I choose to present related BOs in a table of items and also choose to group that table by a specific field, I can't also edit or see the chosen grouping field in the table of items ? Is my understanding correct and the behavior by design ?

Yes, this is the limitation of grouping

So by that rationale, you shouldn't be able to switch the grouping attribute while editing the table, but you can (and the field you set it to on the fly is still there and accepts edits). Not very self-consistent.

It would be lovely to be able to edit and then have the grouping logic called after edits are committed.
