Reset yes/no attribute

I have a yes/no attribute on a form. There is situation where checking the box is invalid. I can catch that and report the error but I can't seem to "uncheck" the box. If the user doesn't do it the report error executes on saving. i.e.

If BSO.YN WAS CHANGED AND BSO.YN = 'Y" AND BSO.XXX <> 'AAA' THEN REPORT ERROR 'Invalid Selection!'
BSO.YN = 'N'

Setting BSO.YN to 'N' either before or after the REPORT ERROR does not make any difference. The check box remains checked and the REPORT ERROR executes again.

How can I fix this?

You shouldn't uncheck anything - REPORT ERROR aborts the current operation and nothing gets saved, so it should remain unchecked. The rule could be:

If BSO.YN WAS CHANGED TO 'Yes' AND BSO.XXX<>'AAA' Then
REPORT ERROR '...'

After the Report Error the form is still displayed with the yes/no box checked. If the user clicks the 'Save' button the error displays again until the user manually un-checks the yes/no box.

I would rather have that particular yes/no appearing as an editable field in a query result. That works except in the query result it's a drop down for a "Yes" or "No" selection which takes up too much space for the "Yes" or "No".

How can I make that a check box like it appears on the main object form?

In the BO - is there an initial value set (to Y) If this is the case then when REPORT ERROR aborts the current operation, any initial values will be reset as if you were inputting the form from scratch.

Options - Set BSO.YN initial value to 'N' Or

Explain clearly in your REPORT ERROR message exactly how you expect the user to resolve the issue

Thanks. I'm using a filter on the query so there won't be any error condition. Only those eligible for selection will display.

The attribute appears on the main form for the object as a check box. In the query result it appears as a drop down for "Yes" or "No" selection. Can it be made to appear as a check box in the query result as it does on the main form?
