LIMIT Clause in Query Not Recognised in Operational Mode

Hi All

I am evaluating Aware IM using MySQL as my database engine. I have a query written directly as an SQL statement which includes a 'LIMIT' clause as follows:

Select Member.ID from dbname_tablename.Members As Member where Member.Grouped=0 ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 5

When I run this query in a MySQL query editor, it works as required but when I run it in Aware IM's operational mode, it returns all 14 records of my Member table instead of just a random 5.

Does anyone know Why this might be? Note that if I try a simple query and I don't tamper with the SQL, the Limit clause seems to work. I therefore think it is something to do with my ORDER BY clause.

So I then tried placing the SQL statement in a stored procedure called Random5 and then did

EXEC_SP 'Random5' Return Member

from within a business process. I got an "invalid parameter ..." error.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? By the way, I am version 4.9 for Windows.

No idea why the SQL doesn't work - in theory it should. Stored procedures should definitely work - check your parameters, you made some mistake there.

Further to this - when you run your query check the output of the Aware IM server. It may have some clues as to what's going on (maybe some errors, exceptions etc)

Thanks. Regarding my stored procedure, must I included parameters within it? I don't have any at the moment. It simply contains the same select statement and nothing else - and yet I get an invalid parameters error.

The error message I get is:

Invalid parameters in action If COUNT Member WHERE (Member.Grouped='No')>=5 Then
EXEC_SP 'Random5' RETURN Member

It's a bug. We'll fix it asap. In the meantime work around it by adding a fictitious parameter to your SP and action

Ok thanks. Not sure how to do that but I'll figure it out. How often do you do patch releases?

Thanks. I managed to get my Stored Procedure working with a dummy parameter like you suggested. Seems I have other problems with my business process though.Need to study how loops work in Aware IM.

Can I ask please what the best way to update to a new version is? Without losing my work I mean. Please note that I am using an evaluation copy at the moment.

Download the latest build from our web site and install it on top of the existing installation (into the same directory). You shouldn't lose anything. Just in case export your configuration into a file before doing the update.
