Search syntax

Is there a way to narrow searches on the forum. i.e. to search on a specific phrase or require all search words to be present in a result?

I've asked this before but don't recall a response.

Whatever options you see in the Search menu of the forum is all you have.

I guess I don't understand the options. "Any term or use query as entered" appears to return results containing any one of the terms so if I want to find something on "multiple applications" I get every post that contains "multiple" and every post that contains "applications" which is not helpful.

If I select "search for all terms" and use "multiple applications" I get zero results even though I know there are posts with both those terms.

So I'm confused. It would be helpful if there was a better explanation.

The forums are on a very old version of phpBB. It is very hard to find anything.

Hopefully they will upgrade the forum software.

Wouldn't mind so much if the stock answer wasn't "to look it up on the forum"
