Aware Service Problem

Hi,

Something odd has happened with my installation. All was fine until yesterday when suddenly, I was unable to connect to my Aware app on my server.

On investigation, I found that if I run Aware using the Control Panel, I can connect to the application. But when I try to connect with Aware only running as a service, my browser just sits there blank trying to load.

All services are correctly installed and running. None of them fails or reports an error.

I've tried re-installing Aware and also removed and reinstalled the services - with no luck.

What could be wrong ?

First thing if you have any problem is to check the logs

My comment above that none of the services fail or report an error can be taken to mean that the services all continue to run normally with no error message in the logs.

If services are not reporting problems they are running OK, so it must be the browser - check if you have any OS setup/browser setup issues that prevent the browser from connecting to the server. You server name may no longer be accessible or something like this - depending on the URL you are using to connect.

I'll check it out.

But the same application works fine and can be accessed via the same browser when I run Aware in control panel mode. It's only when I try to run Aware as a service that it won't work.

I'm wondering is there anything different in the way that Aware provides the services depending on the As Service or Controll Panel status.

It does sound as if it may not be an Aware issue, but a Windows issue.

I'll continue to explore .....

Might be a memory allocation problem. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the control panel memory settings aren't used when running as a service they are set in a file in another location.

Support can you confirm?

Yes, memory settings are specified differently - this is described in the Installation Guide and in the numerous threads on this forum.
