Global search across multiple object groups

We want to perform a search across three objects - ObjectA, ObjectB and ObjectC.

So we created a Business Object Group - Group1 - containing these three objects.

So far so good, because we can write a query on Group1.

The problem we have is that we want to restrict some users from searching ObjectC, as it contains sensitive information.

The problem is easy to solve in SQL, but the tool doesn't support SQL involving groups.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Use rules with PROTECT action for this particular object or access levels

Do we put the READ PROTECT in the Query item rules of the display or on the object?

Rules always go on the BO.

I have tested this by putting READ PROTECT rules on one of the objects.

It appears the rule don't fire on the query of the object and looking at the configuration tool it has put the rule in the add/edit rule section of the object and have noticed there is no query rules that can be applied to an object.

These rules also work as an additional filter on the query - you won't find them in the LogViewer, but they should work unless you didn't write them properly

There was a problem with READ PROTECT for queries on groups. This has been fixed in build 1360
