Reference Objects

I've been assuming that reference relationships are maintained using the "internal ID" and not some attribute I've defined as a unique key. Am I right?

You don't need know how this is implemented internally - it is a bit more complex than just using an ID, but generally you are right.

Hi Support (and everyone else),

Following on from this post. I have a requirement to set up a separate BS where my members can test out their skills with the flight Logging module BEFORE they do a real shift (because they are all volunteers and their duty shift comes around so infrequently, they tend to forget what they learned the last time out.)

Naturally, I want them to use familiar members names and aircraft Idents.

I had assumed I should NOT export ID'd since AwareIM would need to generate new ID's in the New BS. But there are a number of referenced BO's so I was wondering what would be the best way to re-link everything in the new BO - or whether indeed it is possible

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure modifying an unique indexed attribute wouldn't affect the relationship to referenced objects.

Rocketman, if you are talking about exporting into CSV, then yes, exporting ID's is not a good idea. But if you have another attribute or a combination of attributes that uniquely identify an instance, then you can use these as references in your import. See the file DOCS/ExportImport.txt for more details.
