Forms not rendering in IE8

I'm doing some testing and I've seen where a computer running IE8 is not fully rendering some forms. Things like check boxes not appearing and the form rendering only about half of its content. It even completes the box around the bottom even though it left out a lot of content. The computer doing this is total crap running Xp SP3 with 512 MB ram. Thing is, on the same computer, even with IE open, Firefox renders everything fine.

So I don't doubt that the computer and it's memory is a trouble spot - My computer running IE8 renders everything fine.

Does anyone know what is the critical factor here and is there something I can establish as a minimum for my app to run on IE8?

There is a setting in IE8 that puts the browser in the "compatibility mode" (that is, compatibility with previous versions). This setting is not working very well. So if your browser is in this mode, turn it off.

I believe the problem was that I had an HTML element on the form to display a text box. The text box tag was encapsulated in a form tag which was really not needed. The form displayed correctly in all browsers except IE. Lesson learned + I should study basic HTML syntax.

Probably not related but recent Microsoft updates has pushed XP over the edge. I've recently had to do memory upgrades on a number of machines just to stop them from freezing.

1Gb should be considered an absolute minimum
