Like Pete Says, whatever the problem there's always at least 2 ways around it.
Why not put the following in an HTML tag on your form (with your own attributes that is) and set it to fire during the form initialisation (Advanced Tab on the rule)
<<AGE(Members.DateOfBirth)>>
If you really want it in an editable or viewable attribute here's a piece of code from my app that changes a medical renewal date "on the fly"
If AGE(Members.DateOfBirth) BETWEEN 41 AND 45 AND Members.DateMedicalRenewed IS DEFINED Then
Members.DateMedicalExpires=DATE(DAY_OF_MONTH(Members.DateMedicalRenewed),MONTH(Members.DateMedicalRenewed),YEAR(Members.DateMedicalRenewed)+5)
In my case different rules apply for different age groups so each time the member object is either updated or just viewed the age is recalculated, and if our admin staff enter a new medical renewal date, the new expiry date is calculated based on renewal date and age.
I'm sure from that lot you will be able to build whatever you want
