I'm trying to create a summary report and haven't really got to grips with report writer yet. Here goes.
I have two BO's. An Aircraft BO and a Flights BO which is referenced in Aircraft (Aircraft.Flights)
I want to create a monthly summary report with just the bare monthly totals and NOT showing all the individual flight records. The report needs to show
Aircraft Ident Model Launches last month, Hours flown last month.
I created a report based on the aircraft file and in the detail band of my report I created tag elements one of which tries to SUM the referenced attribute Aircraft.Flights. The tag reads:
SUM FlightLog.FlightDuration WHERE (FlightLog IN Aircraft.Flights AND FlightLog.FLDATE BETWEEN FIRST_DAY_OF_PREV_MONTH(CURRENT_DATE) AND LAST_DAY_OF_PREV_MONTH(CURRENT_DATE))
Didn't work - came up zero
I tried producing a report from the FlightLog BO by using group bands based on the Flightlog Aircraft_Ident, then putting the SUM FlightLog.FlightDuration in the group band's footer. It got some numbers but they just increased as each aircraft was assessed. So instead of getting (for example) 3 aircraft each with 5 hours
Aircraft a - 5
Aircraft b - 5
Aircraft c - 5
I got
Aircraft a - 5
Aircraft b - 10
Aircraft c - 15
Can anyone give me a clue as to the best approach to achieve my goal
I was wondering whether I could put the summary details into a non persisted BO and report on that but I'm not clear on how long a non persisted BO persists. Is it possible to create 5 instances in a NPBO (1 for each aircraft - then run a report) I guess the question is - when do they cease to persist.
I asked that question before and someone said - when you no longer need them. A bit unhelpful - is that when the session ends? when I call a different process?
