Internet explorer 8 and Word documents

There have been several posts on the subject of Word documents not opening when using Internet explorer (6 and 7) And the fix was to tick a box which then always prompted to save downloaded files.

However, since I inadvertently upgraded to IE8 (I vowed I would NEVER do it). This little gem of a tick box ( Tools/Internet Options/Advanced) seems to have disappeared.

Does anyone know where they've hidden it or how to get word documents to once again open in IE8 Yesterday it was working, today it's not. Oh deep Joy - thanks a million Microsoft

Sorry Tom, Not used to being so snowbound and everything taking 4 times as long to get done.

It's in Tools/Internet Options/Security and then I found that - even though I had it set in my Trusted site zone, I also had to set it in the internet zone as well. Maybe that's because IE treats doc files as suspicious.

Anyway - click on "custom settings", look for the "Downloads" section and enable automatic prompting for file downoads.
