Using AwareIM credentials and user management

We are developing a separate application outside of Aware using Flex/Air.

With this we would like this application to be forced to connect with our AwareIM application and use the Users Credentials and Role to allow access to data.

Are there any ramifications or effects we should consider when trying this method?

This can be problematic. The only way to do this is either use Guest user in Aware IM or specify explicit credentials when calling Aware IM (with the latter approach you have to synchronize user details in a 3rd party system and Aware IM).

Would your LDAP or AD plug-in allow us to pass the credentials to an alternative system?

Would OpenID http://openid.net/developers/ be a programmatic alternative ?

If you can map your 3rd party login to an LDAP/Active Directory login somehow, then yes, it will work. Not sure, about OpenID - there's too much documentation to read, but most probably it is not suitable.

"Logged in user" is one of the key concepts in Aware IM and bypassing it is not easy unless you use guest access.
