Evaluation of Object Rules

I have a BO with various rules which validate data entry into the BO.

Some of my rules use multiple criteria - AND AND OR AND etc

I've noticed that these rules slow down the performance of my application a lot, and I'm wondering is there a better way to construct my rules.

Most of my rules would check one main criteria and then various other things too.

I'd like to know is there an order in which Aware checks the various conditions. Does Aware stop checking the rules when a condition which evaluates to 'False' is encountered or does it evaluate the entire rule before a decision is made ?

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

An individual rule should not slow down the application - only if you have many rules that execute unnecessarily or in a loop, should you notice any slow down. Please check your LogViewer carefully to see if there are rules that execute unnecessarily

My problem is that to validate the various inputs, each rule must execute.

I presently have about 60 rules on my problem object, most of whick check for a combination of 8-10 conditions/permutations. So the system must check a lot of possibilities at the moment when a user clicks 'Create'.

As I add more rules I notice the process is slowing - maybe up to 10 seconds to create an object (and that's on a quad-core machine with 4GB memory !)

I will have a close look at possible loops, but I don't think that is the problem.
