My Users upload pdf documents into a BO named Attachments.
I noticed if the file name of the pdf contains and ampersand. For example users very commonly name a file. Jane & John Doe.PDF or Sally & Sam Smith.PDF.
If the file they are uploading contains the "&" it will upload fine but later when they need to go back and look at the document meaning click on it to open in adobe reader....They get the following error.
XML returned from the server does not have a 'root' element.
I can warn them to not put an ampersand in the file name but I will be up against years of habit.
Is this a bug that can be fixed. One of our reps had a customer come in and she could not access the documents that she needed....yikes. IT Department lost a few cool points.
I hope there would be some way to open the documents that are already uploaded that contain ampersands or least some way that AwareIM could in the future prevent them from being uploaded if it detects ampersands in the file name.
Anyone else have this issue? Know a work around? The obvious thing is to try to put a big warning on the form not to upload files that have ampersand in file name? But am hoping for something more elegant that that.
Using MYSQL 5.1 The documents are stored in DB
