Import Database

Hello,

as far as i know, it is possible to work with internal tables (BO's) as well as external databases.

Is there a possibility to import a whole database (with several tables); not only data, i mean the complete structure as well (assuming, that field types are compatible and primary key is defined).

Or lets say in another way:

Are there any (dis)advantages, to work with BO's instead of external tables? (speed, relational affairs, input limitations, etc...)

(to setup a new business space with approx. 100 BO's is a lot of work...)

There is no tool at the moment to import the entire database (unless you want to use the CSV import). The biggest disadvantage of using external objects is that you lose automatic relationships between objects - Aware IM does not recreate them from the existing tables.

could you describe the advantage of the automatic relationship (foreign keys with delete inheritance or more?) in some words?

Could you send me an offer (private message) for a import routine to import ms access or ms sql server database (with foreign keys, relationships etc..).

In some post within the forum, you show on the advantage of the derby database. Could you tell me / us, why we should prefer this database? Is it because of the costs, to automatic relationship or more?

What's about performance?

The Derby database is an adequate database that can be used in many projects. However, it is not as sophisticated as MySQL or SQL Server. So the decision which database to use is yours - there's plenty of info about all of these databases around, so read it up. As far as Aware IM is concerned, all these databases are nearly the same.

With respect to converting the database - we need to know more details. Please send an e-mail to support@awareim.com and describe in detail what you want to do.
