Admin sending mail

When you're logged on as Admin and you send an email notification, what outgoing mail parameters are being used? Does it use RegularUser or System Settings?

This depends on how you defined the e-mail channel properties - you could have built the settings into the configuration or you could have specified that the values should be taken from the SystemSettings object. It's not in the RegularUser.

Yes I understand but each intelligent BO can have its own defined outgoing email settings, or use the system settings. There is no BO for the admin user so does that mean it will always use the system settings?

You don't need different outgoing e-mail settings for different users - it's just one e-mail server that handles the e-mail. "From address" can be different, but this can be set into the e-mail notification

What I am having trouble understanding is that when I create a BO and make it intelligent, I have the option of using defined email settings for the object or using system settings. I don't have this option for the administrator because there is no BO for the Administrator account. So I presume that when a message is sent by the Administrator that system settings must be used.

I'm assuming you are talking about the TO part of the message & not the FROM part of the message. There are 2 ways to do it.

I make the SystemSettings BO intelligent in my BSVs. I can then send admin messages to the email address specified in System Settings. Since SystemSettings is always in context, no FIND action is needed. Simply: SEND EmailNotificationName to SystemSettings

You could also send an email to a RegularUser with LoginName of admin by:

FIND RegularUser WHERE RegularUser.LoginName='admin'
SEND EmailNotificationName TO RegularUser

It is no different than sending an email notification to any other user. First you have to put the user into context, then send the email notification.

I'm confused by your statement about outgoing mail. My post was 100% about outgoing mail to admin user.
