Persistence?

I have a SQL database that has a structure where one table (fileinfo) is the one to one relationship and 3 others with one to many relationships. I was hoping to be able to use the same form with multiple tabs to get to the rest of the data. Is it possible to pull all the data I need for that one form or do I have to have several business objects with several forms to do this? Is it possible to have several business objects all linked to one form so I can have multiple tabs with all the information for said file on one form (in access I would use sub forms but not sure if I can do the same thing here with the persistence issue linking to our database)??

For instance we have fileinfo which is the one to one that will actually consist of 2 tabs then we have a table that holds records pertaining to documents that show who has interest in the file and then we have one that has a listing of any outstanding judgments for that property etc etc. Any help would be great.

There are multiple ways to accomplish your goals with AwareIM. Here are a few ideas:

1) One BO (A) that has the related BOs (B,C, etc) as references. The related BOs can be presented in tabs on BO A's form. This is the most likely answer from the example you gave.

2) A visual perspective can show info in tabs that are highly related (like references) or more loosely related. Info from BOs A, B and C could all be shown in 1 visual perspective.

3) Shortcuts. If BOs B and C are NOT "multiple allowed", the attributes of B and C can be presented as shortcuts in BO A. This will allow then to be used in forms & queries of BO A. With the example you gave, this would not apply.

Thanks again tford. I will try this tomorrow and see where I can get =). It is definitely fun playing around with something that is completely different than Access for a change that is for sure!

Do I have to create a field in my table for the reference attribute? If not how do you create references? The user guide under reference attributes does not really go in depth about how to create the relationship.

In Access I would just link everything based on our caseNumber to pull the necessary data.

Yes. In AwareIM terms you need to create an attribute (field) in the BO (table).

I believe LibraryCaseStudy.pdf in the AwareIM/doc subdirectory explains details about stuff like this.

Since I am using a table that was already created it looks as if I cannot change the type of the field to make the reference is this correct? For instancae even if I created a field for the reference in my SQL table and declare it is varchar(50) it will automatically be considered a text field by AwareIM.

This was one of the things that worried me about this because there is ONE table that cannot be reproduced as it comes from another application and I need the data to be displayed and printed by customers through AwareIM and it uses a one to many relationship. I could in theory not use the other tables in our current database as when this launches it will be eliminating our previous database structure.
