New calendar view performance

Hi,

Just a quick comment that the new calendar view which admittedly has some nice features is extremely slow to display the data when you have a large number of appointments. Just thought that I would let you know.

I haven't moved to the new calendar display yet, but understood that it was 'heavily optimised' - presumably to speed up load times, changes etc.

Is there a best prectice suggestion to optimise the calendar display. Should particular attributes be indexed for example ?

I'm ready to move to the new calendar but am quite wary about performance issues. My calendar needs to present about 2000 items per calendar year.

Any suggestions support ?

Could be a bug. Are you sure?

The new calendar is supposed to show only the appointments in the current view. Do you have a BSV to reproduce this problem?

Hi,

With a bsv that has approx. 1030 appointments and approx. 400 of them in the current monthly view, it can take up to a minute for the data to show up in the calendar. It also takes just as long when you are moving from month to month. Even resizing the browser window takes 45 seconds or so to refresh and consumes the majority of my computer resources. I am getting errors in both Firefox and IE stating that a script is causing the browser to run slowly and do I want to continue.

I notice the reference on the E2CS site under the calendar history section: "Fixing Performance issues when the data is too long (a lot of records)." So obviously this is a known issue and hopefully they will resolve it soon. According to the history page, they are working on a release for the first half of August so if you could check out the new version when it is released, that would be great as right now I cannot offer my clients a working solution other than to rely on standard queries.

We have done some improvements and fixes of the new calendar in build 1242.

We have tried your example with more than 1000 appointments in two months (500 appointments per month). It takes less than 10 sec to display a monthly view with 500 appointments on our development machine. Weekly and daily views are 1-3 seconds.
