When you install on the VPS, aware will install everything. If you look in the bin directory, you will see a file called installservice.bat
Run that and this will install Tomcat, jboss and AwareIM as Windows Services. Then you'll need to start them in the order Tomcat, then jboss then AwareIM. Make sure they are set to start automatically justy in case you need to do a server restart ever. I found that I needed to tweak the recovery option on the aware service, so after a failed attempt, it will wait 2 minutes then try again.
I found I needed to do this because after a restart, Aware was trying to start too quickly before Tomcat and/or jboss was ready. It came up with "Port 9000 not available" errors
When you've done that, find another file in the bin directory called ClientStarter.bat, also logviewer.bat - you might like to drag them both to the desktop
clientstarter will fire up the configuration app, which you will need to import any BO's you develop locally. Create a Business Space with the name you want to use in the live app, then import your developed app into that space. It doesn't need to have the same name as the developement version. I for example have a space called DLGC but I also have an area where my members can play with new functionality before I let them screw up the live system. This area is called Freeflight. All I do is export the DLGC space and then import it into FreeFlight.
Not sure whether any of this is going to be useful to others so I suggest you PM me if you have any more questions
