Error generating document

Suddenly, a document is posting a nasty error. I don't believe I touched a thing on this document's design. The error is:

2009-08-04 01:00:21,905 ERROR POBITS#bbet -Execution Exception after starting process PHSEvaluation message Error filling report ../DocTemplates/BASTestDomainPOBITS_1.2523/DocTemplates/115/115/RDDoc3463.rdd Error evaluating expression value : Expr_BAS3 java.lang.ClassCastException null

The document loads up for editing just fine. I can't see where there is any trouble.

Still getting nowhere on this. I have confirmed that my query is producing data. I have a simple report that just dumps records, no fancy grouping or sorting or totaling.

The error console posts about 50 errors like this one prior to the error stated in original post:

at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

I am clueless why I am getting an error on this simple document display function.

This has something to do with the types of expressions used in the report - try removing any expressions you have one by one and see which one causes this problem....

The fact is I really have no expressions in the report. I had one break in the column header. So it was a simple report that contained a single column item in the detail broken and grouped by one column attribute. I even tried removing the column break with no success. Then I rebuilt the report exactly as it was (in a new report) and it seems to work fine. I am experiencing this in a couple of other reports as well and I think my only strategy is to rebuild each one. Uhg.

Same problem, different day. After updating to AIM 6.0, one of my documents is throwing this same error. Searching the forum, I see that I was the last guy to suffer this with no real resolution. I must have rebuilt the report from scratch to recover. In this case, this is a rather complex report. Not too hard to rebuild but it has about 20 subreports. I've done everything I can with memory settings and such. Other similar reports are generating fine and this one was fine until 6.0. Any suggestions are welcome.

RESOLVED:

The Syntax Error at token "," was pointing to a formatting statement in a form element:

SUM Liability.Amount,$#,##0

This was working fine under 5.9 but seems not to work under 6.0. Once I opened the report and tried to save these values, I got an error. So something must have changed here.

Support: Is the syntax correct but is not being parsed correctly under 6.0, or is a different syntax required to format the element?

Hi kklosson,

There were changes in this area back in build 1898. I think that if you use the @ symbol rather than a comma to seperate your expression and format this will solve your problem.

Now I find that when applying a summary to a list attribute on a form, neither of these formatting methods work. In fact, when I apply @$#,##0...

<p align='right'><b>Total Income: <<SUM Income.Amount@$#,##0>></b></p>

This causes the configuration of this element to go berserk. It changes my table display to a tree and other bad things... So what is the magic to format values here?

Not sure if it is the same issue I was having. After upgrade to V6 my summaries would not line up.

However, I changed mine to....

<div style="entity_summary">Total Employees: <<SUM Entity.NumberOfEmployees>></div>

With the style in my css as...

.entity_summary{
float: right; clear: right;
}

and it worked.
