Unable to determine business space version for user

My application allows a user to create other users via a process. I've been doing this all over the place and working fine. Now I am doing it but the created user can't login. Console error says:

I've checked the credentials 1,000 time and reset the password, but the user can't log in. There is a login procedure for the user's accesslevel but they're not getting that far. Just invalid credentials.

Any thoughts what I should look at?

This can happen if testing mode is off but there is no version with the CURRENT state in the business space, or if testing mode is on, but there is no version with the UNDER TESTING state.

Yes, I would imagine so but that is not my case. While this particular user cannot log in, any other user can. This is all in testing mode.

It's pretty odd. This is limited to one particular business object. No matter how many I create, no person of this business object can log in.

When I'm in a corner I tend toward shotgun fixes like scrubbing the BO and recreating it.

Does anyone support that approach?

Yes, try this. Most probably some values haven't been set up properly for this instance, but it's hard to say what exactly.

Tried it. No help.

This Business Object is called SecondaryReference which was copied from an object called Reference, though I did try other object names. The object is was copied from can login just dandy.

I've tried going in a setting the LoginName and Password explicitly with no luck. This dude just can login.

Resolved: Rookie mistake. The object was not in the System user group. You probably thought I knew better.
