Help needed on Display Action

Can anyone help me figure out how to choose the attributes to appear on the screen when DISPLAY action is used.
I have a process called from a query which says DISPLAY BO1 where BO1.state=BO2.state
The query works as expected..But it shows me all the attributes from BO1. How can i choose to display only the ones i need...

Specify the attributes as you build the query.

Agreed that attributes can be chosen when the query is designed.. But here, I have a PROCESS which says - DISPLAY BO1 where BO1.state=BO2.state ..... which shows me all attributes of BO1 on the screen which i dont want...
How can i design a query in this way??
P.S - My objects BO1 and BO2 are not related in any ways..

To help me get a better understanding of your configuration can you please tell me if the 'State' attribute in BO1 and BO2 is a plain text field with choices specified, or if it is a reference to a lookup object.?

If it is the later then the resolution of your problem is relatively easy.

Create a Query for BO1 with the following filter expression:

BO1.State = State

Then select what attributes of BO1 you want displayed.

In your process (I'm assuming from your original post that it is called from a Query on BO2, and that it has BO2 as an input) use the following actions:

FIND State WHERE State=BO2.State
DISPLAY BO1_Query

That should give you the results you require.

The 'state' attribute in both the BO are a referene to a lookup table ( for which the attribute values are created by the end users)
And yes, my process (DISPLAY BO1 where BO1.state=BO2.state ) is called from a Query on BO2, and it has BO2 as an input

As u had suggested to Create a Query for BO1 with the following filter expression:

BO1.State = State
I couldn't create a query that way since State attribute in BO1 has multiple allowed ticked.. 'BO1.State' doesnt show in the WHERE part..
I just need to find a list of BO1 where BO1.state=BO2.state (BO1 and BO2 are not related) .. ANd then display the BO1 values... I have defined a process P1 called from a query which has BO2 as input) The process works as expected... But this DISPLAY function shows me all values which i dont want the users to see....

Forgot to mention that the quey is on BO2 which displays me a resultset from where P1 is called

This is confusing. If State attribute has multiple allowed checked, why isn't it called States? Consequently, you CANNOT compare multiple attribute like this BO1.State = BO2.State. Which of the multiple states in BO1 are you comparing? All of them? Some of them? Just one?

So either make this attribute single and follow the initial suggestion by Tom or clarify the meaning of your BO1.State = BO2.State expression (it is currenly incorrect!)

I don't know how this works but my process Display BO1 where BO1.state=BO2.state gives me exact results..

As i mentioned earlier DISPLAY action shows me all attributes of BO1. The reason behind this post is to find a way out to display only the attributes required..

Once again, you CANNOT compare attributes BO1.State = BO2.State if BO1.State is multiple. Doesn't matter if BO2.State is not multiple. This query will not work. If it works, it is just coincidental.

So fix your query first. And then follow Tom's suggestion - configure a separate query with required attributes displayed and then use it in the DISPLAY action

My bad in the post above for not taking the multiple allowed flag on BO1.State into consideration.

Here is a workable solution:

1) Query on BO2 that contains a Start Process Action.
(It appears that Craig already has this implemented)

2) Process with BO2 as an input with the following actions

FIND State WHERE State=BO2.State
DISPLAY BO1 WHERE State IN BO1.State

This will give you all BO1's That contain the same state as the selected BO2

This solution will however not allow you to specify at this point in time what attributes of BO1 to display, as you cannot use a Query in the DISPLAY rule in this instance, so I would recommend that unless you need multiple States in BO1 to change it to single reference attribute.

Which will open up further options for you

I've configured an example bsv to demonstrate how to solve the problem Craig is having as well as how to display the attribute that you want to be displayed to end users.

It uses a non-simple query to enable the display of the attributes you want to.

Hi.

Following are the steps to test this basic BSV.

-Create a few of the lookup objects. Call them whatever it is that you would like.

-Create a few BO1's adding a variation of lookups 1,2 to each of them

-Create a few BO2's adding lookups 1,2 to each of them.

-Click on Search BO2 - Query on BO2 which has the single reference to the lookups.

-Click on Find Similar BO1 (Operation in Query) - Will display a list of all BO1's containing the lookups 1,2 of the selected BO2

Though BO1 contains multiple lookups it is still possible to find Objects containing a specific object.
