Calculating price and number of days

Hi,

I have the following:

NewHotelReservation BO with attributes:

Arrival - Timestamp
Depart - Timestamp
PricePerNight - Number

and in the form section an HTML tag saying:

<b><<DAY_DIFFERENCE (NewHotelReservation.Arrival,NewHotelReservation.Depart)>></b> night(s)

All is working perfectly however I was not able to figure out how to multiply the PricePerNight and DAY_DIFFERENCE together to get a total amount we will be charging the guest to stay at a room since the DAY_DIFFERENCE is in a HTML tag instead of an attribute. Any help is appreciated.

Try making an attribute: NbrOfNights & using the DAY DIFFERENCE forumula in a BO rule instead of an HTML cell. It will then be available for other calculations including total charges.

I tried that but it didn't work the way I wanted it to.

When I initially select the dates the attribute will display the number of nights correctly however when I'd edit the record the number will stay the same and not change according to the date changes whereas the HTML cell updates as I edit and save the record.

I must be missing something.

If you want the number of nights to show changes on the screen, the rule will have to be "dynamic".

Thanks for the quick reply and sorry to be a pain but I don't have this in a rule, I have it in the initial value of the NbrOfNights attribute.

Is that correct of me to do?

Sorry disregard my last post I just realised the rule needed to be

NewHotelReservation.NbrOfNights=DAY_DIFFERENCE(NewHotelReservation.Arrival,NewHotelReservation.Depart)
