Checking if a document exists

Continuing my labour of love ....

I have a process which allows my member pilots to upload their GPS logger files of their glider flights. These can be viewed by other members. When a member calls up the list of flights, I'd like the BO's that have logger files attached appear in the list with a different text colour so they can be picked out easily.

I've done this many times with other attributes but when I try to create an item rule "Logger_File IS DEFINED" (change the foreground colour) It doesn't work.

Logger_file is an attribute of type Document

Any ideas guys

Hi Support, there's no error message. Files upload ok, list appears on screen ok, members can drill into the main record ok and download the uploaded file. It's just that all the list items remain standard theme text colour and with 20 items per page, the items with associated uploaded files are not apparent.

The user has to drill down into each item to find out whether there's an associated logger file or not.

It's 1:30 am - I'll check the log viewer in the morning to find out what the item rule is returning for the logger_file attribute

After further tests....

Nothing shows in the logviewer. Presumably because it's a straightforward run query called from a menu item on a visual perspective

When i test on other attribute types (IE "HeightGain is defined" ) the line does as wanted - ie it changes colour

It just seems that attributes of type "Document" cannot be tested for "IS DEFINED".

I've also tried logger_file <>'' That didn't work either

If you need a short term fixed until support can fix this, you could add a Yes/No attribute: Logger_File_Exists. A rule could turn this flag to Yes or No depending if a file exists & then used in the query rule.
