THIS and THAT

Hi,

I have two BOs called Customer and Appointment. The Appointment BO is an Appointment object. There is a reference attribute called CustomerRef in the Appointment BO which is a reference to the related Customer BO. There are approximately 200 instances of Appointment referring to approximately 50 Customers.

I need to update the Subject attribute in all my Appointment BOs with data from two attributes of the related Customer BO. I have tried the following -

FIND ALL Appointment
Appointment.Subject=Appointment.CustomerRef.FirstName+' '+Appointment.CustomerRef.LastName

What I have encountered is that all my Appointment BOs are updated with the FirstName+Lastname of just one Customer, the first Customer from the FIND rule, I think.

I hoped my rule would fill Appointment BO with its own related data, but evidently not.

I'm wondering has it got something to do with THIS or THAT, or is there something else I'm overlooking.

Any suggestions ?

Did u try yhis:
FIND ALL Appointment
Appointment.Subject=ThisAppointment.CustomerRef.FirstName+' '+ThisAppointment.CustomerRef.LastName

Yes, I have tried your suggestion but the process updates all Appointments with the first referenced Customer data.

Doesn't appear to be the solution 🙁

Peter,

If the Subject attribute should always be FirstName + LastName, just put your rule in the Appoinment BO:

Appointment.Subject=Appointment.CustomerRef.FirstName+' '+Appointment.CustomerRef.LastName

Then run a process to FIND ALL Appointment UPDATE Appointment. The process will do the "catch up" for you & the rule will keep it up to date for new or changed info.

I'm sure there's another way to do it, and I'll be pleased to hear it, but I managed to achieve what I was trying to do as follows -

I created a rule of my Appointment BO which updated the Subject with the FirstName+LastName of its referenced Customer object.

Then I created a process with these two rules -

FIND ALL Appointment
UPDATE Appointment

This process caused the Appointment BO rule to trigger for all the objects in context - all the Appointments. Crude I know, but as this is a once-off maintenance task, I'm happy with it.

Maybe someone can explain how to achieve this using a process only ? ?

I didn't see your post and had worked around to your technique.

It's probably not something necessary on a regular basis, but can it be done through a process ?

Try 2 processes. Put the FIND in Process1, then call Process2. Put the rule in Process2 & indicate Appointment as a Process Input.
