End-user document management

I have read the User's Guide regarding end-user document management. It refers to using the “Manage Documents” and “Run User Defined Document” menu items. I am using the trial software and I see that this feature exists only in the Developer version which I will need for my implementation.

But here is what I will ultimately need... My application will have several unique organizations using the tool, each will need their own unique set of documents. Will the "Manage Documents" functionality allow me to confine each user to managing only the documents for their particular organization?

And is is not possible to allow the user to add an object with a Document type attribute, then, using a process, allow them to pick from a list of documents, Display the document, and mail merge as appropriate?

Seems reasonable, but I can't quite get there.

Incidentally, we are working on the improvements to the user defined document feature. In the new feature a user defined document will be represented as a special business object, so you'll be able to protect it with rules and/or access levels.

Is it planned to be available anytime soon or will it be the next major release?

It will be available pretty soon. It's not going to be a major release, but possibly a minor release (4.1)

The new user defined documents have been implemented in version 4.1
