Printing Documents

I have the following process which is launched via a menu item:

FIND 'All Installed GSS Software'
PRINT DOCUMENT ReleaseLetter

When I run the process, it just hangs.

I have confirmed that the ReleaseLetter document works fine by adding a button to BO form of GSS Software.

Am I doing this correctly. My goal is to be able to run a query and the output be a MS Word document.

If I change the PRINT DOCUMENT to DISPLAY DOCUMENT it doesn't lock up. It displays MS Word with just one of the records versus the 2 that are returned from the query.

If you are looking to produce 1 Word doc with a page break for each instance of the BO involved, you should use the process in the Word mail merge link.

I have not used the PRINT action, so I can't help you with that part.

PRINT DOCUMENT is supposed to print on the printer of the SERVER. If the printer is not available or not turned on, the process is likely to "hang".

Take a look at the LogViewer and the output of the Aware IM Server for any additional clues.

Ok, I will check that out. What about my issue where it only displays one record when I try using DISPLAY Document? Am I doing the processing incorrectly?

What result were you thinking you would see in your Word doc with DISPLAY DOCUMENT -- the first instance of the found BO followed by the second instance?

Yes or a separate document for each BO.

1- If looking for 1 doc with all instances one after another separated by a page break, you will need to follow the mail merge instructions I gave you. Trust me, it works.

2- "A separate document for each BO" -- I'm not aware of a way to get this to happen.

I was able to get one document generated with all BOs. The only issue I have is that the Headers and Footers don't appear. I have a header and footer in the details document. They don't appear. So, I thought would I would put the header and footer into the "driver" document. Unfortunately, when I do that I get an internal error.

Any ideas?

I'm not getting an "error". As mentioned in the posting, the MS Word Headers and Footers are not appearing the in the generated documents.

You are saying in one of your previous posts that you are getting an "internal error" when putting the header and footer into the "driver document". Is it a mistake?

I am sorry. Yes, I still get the error when I put the Header or Footer into the driver document. I assume that makes sense because the only text it is looking for is the subdocument text.

I tried recreating the error, but wasn't successful. I put a header back into my document, but can't get the error to appear. Not real sure what is different. So, all is well.
