I get similar problems all the time and have previously asked support , but It seems the email is handled by a 3rd party subsystem that AwareIM use but dont have much knowledge about.

The best I have come up with is to shut down and restart the AwareIM server. This pulls in the unprocessed incomming email, and works until the next time it hits an error.
