Email Logging

I am creating a marketing application where I will have an email sent to clients once or twice a month, this email will mainly stay the same. The problems I have are

How to I place a picture in an email sent by AwareIM
How do I go about logging a sent email per company the mail was sent to
How to log an imbound reply to the company it was sent by

If more info is needed please IM or post

What I should of also pointed out is that I need the email preconfigured and then click on a button and the email will sent to the list so apart from clicking on the button no human intervention is needed to sent the mail shot

Once sent I need the client to open the email and see the advert rather than having to open up an attachement

I think I have sorted out the process of selecting the company list and sending an email just need to see how to log these and configure the actual email.

Re: #1 - Sounds like you want to send an HTML email. See topic "How to send e-mails in HTML format" in Help.

Re: #2 - You'll need to set up a BO like EmailLog with approppriate attributes to describe who, when, what, etc. In your process to send out the email to selected people, you will also create appropriate instances in this new BO.

Re: #3 - Inbound reply. Don't really have any experience here, but it sounds like you could identify the email address of the incoming email & FIND that Customer & log appropriate info to a BO associated with that Customer BO.

Thanks for the Post. I have been looking at the HTML document in the help but not sure on when what or why but I guess I fill figure it out

As to point 2 and 3 well I am lost!

If you want some help, you'll have to give us a bit more than "I am lost".

What have you tried? What are you having trouble with?

Well I am lost as I cannot see what I need to do to make this work. I will create a BO for the out bound email and I am trying at the moment to import a HTML document but when I try to locate the document to import it does not show up in the list view!

Bare with me while I try and configure the BO and the HTML email. I don't find the book that descritptive to be honest so most of this is trial by error! And there was me thinking this project would be easy!

Ok The first issue is this

I cannot get the email to send via the contacts list?

BO = Contacts, Attributes include company name and email address
Process = Find all Contacts, Send OutgoingEmail to Contacts
Have a menu item called 'Send Mail' that triggers the send email process.
I have the inteligence set to email with the out going email server and user details
Process does say completed but nothing is coming through the email?

What have I done wrong?

Hard to tell.

Probably best to take it step by step... only going to next step when the previous is successful.

1- Send a test email from AwareIM. This verifies your email settings are proper.

2- Send a test email to 1 contact. Make a notification & attach it to contact form + send test email to only 1 contact

3- Send to list of contacts

What have you done successfully so far?

When a new contact has been created this will send an email to the staff to let them know, this works fine!

It seems to go wrong when I try to send an email to the contacts. At present there is only ont test contact in the database but nothing is received!

OK.

Then you will need to further describe your process, input, etc. Otherwise we would have no idea what is going wrong.

Sorry for the pause I have been busy report writing! Ok with this Marketing database I can now send emails to Contacts and StaffMembers as I wish. The only problem I have is the email is being sent as HTML so when I receive this it is in MIME format and not the advert? (Not sure what I did as this was working untill today!)

Email Logging

Ok how do I go about this? If you need to see what the basic app is I can send a copy of the bsv if needed. I need a way of changing the subject line for the conacts email shot before sending and to log this against the contact as sent with for example Date Sent and subject.

Inbound email

I need to log inbound email against the from field and log this as a reply to the contact with say Received date and Subject.

I would also need a report against the sent mail shot t see how many replies. So I need to have a read/delete/not read receipt!

I have no clue what I should be looking at to achive this so any help would be fantastic.

1- What are the steps in your process today?

2- Have you defined a BO & attributes for the logging process that are owned by Contact? If so, what are they?

1 - Process for sending email is

Find all Contacts where contacts.optin='yes'
Send Mailshot To Contacts

This is executed via 'Send Mail' on the main menu

I Have just created the ReceivedEmail BO via clicking on 'Handling Incoming Emails' so this sits in the BO list as default!

Have you looked at the Library sample app?

Your process is very simple to get basic functionality working, but the Library app shows more details about this kind of thing.

No the libary app but I will take a look at this now! I have been looking at the CRM Sample although this is single email sending!

Being I am only on version 2.3 I have gone through the library app sample and fail to see the email logging!

Graham,

I began using AwareIM well after V2.3, so I have no way to help you. I have no idea what the sample apps were at that time. The live sample Library application at http://www.awareim.com/sample_applications.html shows this.

In my opinion, converting to V4 is a 'must'.

A bit painful but I have now completed the upgrade! I have also looked through the new version of the Library app and still a bit unclear what I need to do?
