Email notification to multiple recipients

In one of my business objects, I have a list of users. I add the ones I want an email notification to go to. The rule I use is

If Document is new
Send DocumentNotification to Document.NotificationList

This works if there is only one recipient in the list, but if there are more recipients in the list, the email does not send.

Can anyone tell me what the correct rule should look like? I am using AwareIM 3

Try this:

If Document IS NEW Then
FIND SystemUser WHERE SystemUser IN Document .NotificationList
SEND OutgoingEmail TO SystemUser

Hi Tom,

I like your response as it solves some issues that I have for sending pre-populated notifications to a group of users.

I am curious if this is possible to send an email to a group of people but be able to enter the email contents at the time of submission.

An example would be, select all users in Texas and create an email with a message that I type in an submit. I tried this in the CRM example but the outgoing email only accepts one "coorespondent' per outgoing email and it does not appear that there is CC or BCC support for outgoing emails (per the forum).

I hope that there is an easy way...seems like an easy request.

Hi Tom,

I was hoping to have a group BO that stores designated Accounts that are for a particular purpose ('New Business Email' group for instance)

Marketing Group BO (Consists of multiple Account objects)

I would like to display all accounts associated with a particular Marketing List and have a process button on the top of the list that says 'Send email to Marketing Group'.

At this point, I would like a form to display (much like the outgoing mail form...it is perfect) and allow the user to enter details associated with the email and then send from the form.

I would also hope to have a historical record that an email was sent to the users that where associated with that list.

Let me know if I am leaving something out.

A couple of other clarifications about your data structure:

1- Is it the Account BO that is the intelligent object that you want to send emails to?

2- Is the "'New Business Email" and "Marketing" group that you mention an attribute with a Choice List in the Account BO?

Yes. The Account BO is an intelligent BO.

The 'Marketing List' BO is a peer to the Account BO and is a reference BO that allows for an Account to be on multiple Marketing Lists. The Marketing List is owned by the Company BO. The Company can create the Marketing List and then filter and add Accounts to the list. The account then has a reference to the Marketing list.

I hope that explains the design.

All associated Accounts in the Marketing List should receive the email.

I've got a sample bsv that I will email to you. This is something I wanted to be able to do soon in an application anyway.

The sample BSV does not show the storage of email history. That is covered in the CRM application so I did not duplicate that logic.

I tried the rule you supplied Tom and now I don't get any notifications. I can't see why not though.

Documents BO does get created as a linked BO from another one. That is I enter all the details on a BO called Customers, Documents are added at the bottom. When I create documents they should email our staff members of the latest additions. I hope I am making sense here.

I don't know if the create process for a BO from a direct entry is any different from when it is being created from anothe BO. Does anyone have any input about this?

I just wanted to thank you for an EXCELLENT example!!!

You are a great guy and should be on the payroll at Aware.

I wish there was a way for you to store this in a repository so that all users could download this for their own knowledge.

Aware - Is a repository for samples something that is possible on your site?? I am so used to being able to grab examples with MS Access, Java and SQL Server sites. It is truly one of the best ways to understand and learn a product.

Do anybody have this TestTazz.bsv in archives? I am not sure, but I think the BO I am trying to make is very similar to it.
I want to make BO called PriceRequest that will dynamically show recipients checkbox list according to category chosen in dropdown or list. Recipients have multiple categories, as well as category has multiple recipients. Notification then could be sent to recipients that was selected in checkbox.
