Points and Pixels

I'm looking for some help in understanding pixels vs. points.

In the Library sample app's Customer Visual Perspective, the Manufacturers content panel has a width of 150 pixels. That panel is displaying the query 'All manufacturers - small logos' which in turn uses the 'Small logos' presentation of Manufacturer BO. 'Small logos' is 80 points wide.

Can anyone give some guidance in how to know what relationship of points in a Presentation to pixels in a Visual Perspective?
