Hey ACDC,
I feel your pain...trust me. I have been looking for a working recurring solutions since I purchase the product over a year and a half ago.
That said, I usually have the subject updated by a rule to display the data that I want (in the order that I want). I also usually always create shortcuts for the main parts of any of my referenced objects. Remember to check the subject attribute as a calculated field if you try the following example:
If Appointment WAS CHANGED OR Appointment IS NEW Then
Appointment.Subject=Appointment.AccountSC+' - '+Appointment.ContactLastNameSC+' - '+Appointment.AccountStatusSC
Then on the calendar it should look like this:
ACT10024 - Smith - Active
Of course it could be any format or data...it's up to you.
As far as Recurring goes; Aware...Guys...this is a BIG deal. Nobody expects to have a calendar feature without recurring ability. Especially on a high-powered enterprise level web & database application generating software system.
It looks even worse when the presentation layer that you have integrated into your application has this as a feature and you neglected/refused to add it. You even said that this WILL be in the next version over a year ago...we are still waiting. I do appreciate your attempts at offering "solutions" to creating recurring events but none work in a way that doesn't require a large amount of effort. I have abondoned Aware for this in the meantime and use an ASP.NET application builder for offering calendar based activity to my users. They go to the page, create their recurring details, export the data, then Aware picks it up via process and imports the data into Awares tables...a lot of work for something that should just be there...
