Beginner's problem with query

Hello,

In my configuration tool, I created:

a business object: "Company" with attributes (Name or Town for instance)
a query: Company.Name starts with (Ask at run-time) or
Company.Town starts with (Ask at run-time)

I created one or two instances (Bluecompany and Redcompany for example) for this business object both in test and in current way.

When I use my query:
With nothing in the fields (Leave parameters blank to display all items...) nothing happens = no result.

When I use my query:
With the Company.Name field filled with "Bluecompany"
Bluecompany appears in the results!

How is this possible?
What do I do wrong?
Is there a way to open the derby databasis to verify what there is truly or not in it?

Sorry for this probably very trivial questions... but I downloaded the trial version only 2 or 3 days ago...

It is hard to say what and where went wrong. This type of simple query has been reliably working in hundreds of applications. A good way to start with Aware is to go through detailed description of Library sample application. The manual takes you through many useful concepts in Aware based design.

Coming back to your problem, looking at a copy of your configuration file (bsv) may help. Then this is a question to the AWARE-SUPPORT: can you guys set up an option for uploading user configuration files where users can help each other with problems? While this option is not available, I guess you can purchase a support ticket and send your configuration to the Aware support to have a look

We had a quick test and everything is working fine on our systems. Please check what's in the database - to do this use Search Objects functionality available in the Standard menu - it will display all objects of the given type.

I think there was a bug in 2.3 so if you used the enterbuttton nothing happened, but if you klicked OK with the mouse it worked.

Awaresupport: is this fixed in 3.0?

I don´t know if this is your problem (probably not) but I know that sometimes when just starting for the first time developing nothing works as it should (or at least that is how you experience it). Have you made the testapp which sends a little mail. If not, do this and then look at some other examples as well and it will probably become clearer.

There seems to be a problem with the new-style interface for queries where results are not shown in the results table sometimes. We are investigating the issue. In the meantime as a workaround please use the Version 2 Interface option for your queries. This should show the results properly.
