Testing Received Email

I am having trouble getting received Email to work. Any suggestions for testing.

Also AWARE seems to lock my pop3 account and I have to stop the Aware service to free it up.

Is there a way of polling the pop3 account every so many minutes?

Aware IM does poll the account every few minutes automatically and so it
will pick up all messages arriving to the account. We recommend that you
allocate a special account to be handled by Aware IM.
