Rules using time conditions?

Hello!

I am making my first app using Aware IM (so I´m new to this). As long as I´m not using conditions in the rules I´m fine, but (and am sure this is easy but I have read the manual and tested for hours now..) and want to make calculations based on when in time peoples have reported their jobs (bulding a timereportingsystem). So if the clock is after 17:00 I want to make one calculations and if it´s between 17:00 and 22:00 another and so on.

BUT, when I write xxx.yyy<=17:00 nothing happens (xxx.yyy is a timestamp the user enters when registering the object). In the log there is a long number instead so i think I must have some function to translate the time. Have tried with timestamp(17:00), but that didn´t work either.

Suggestions please?

Timestamp includes not only time but also date - this is probably why your rules do not work. If you only want to compare hours you can use the HOUR function to extract the hour of the specified timestamp. Please have a look at the Date/Time functions section in the User Manual. You will find many functions there that may be useful.

I tried that, but i didn´t work. Now I made a workaround. I made some new attributes under the systemsettingsobject and when i started the program I went in and set the times for them. Now I can compare with these instead of writing the time in the rules. It works but it doesn´t seem as the right way to do it ...

The HOUR function should work. Have you checked the Log Viewer when using it? Maybe you didn't use it correctly?
