Defining a report detail

I have two BO's, one ItemSummary and one LineItem. The LineItem is displayed on a form, along with the ItemSummary data, as a table. This works fine.

I require to create a report with the all the relevant LineItem data being printed in the detail band of the report. I have created a report with the details being generated from the following query:

               FIND LineItem WHERE LineItem IN ItemSummary.Parts

Note: Parts is the detail table in the form where the report is initiated from.

When I run the report, I get the correct number of LineItems but the LineItems are all the same (the last in the list). What I require is the detail band of the report listing all of the LineItems as displayed in the form.

I hope this makes sense.

Do you want to display LineItems for each ItemSummary, so that the report will show an ItemSummary followed by its line items, then another ItemSummary followed by its line items etc?

If so, you have to create two reports - one showing line items only and a combined report. The combined report will use the first report as a sub-report and the query for the sub-report should look like this:

FIND LineItem WHERE LineItem IN ThisItemSummary.Parts

No, I want to create a report for one ItemSummary followed by its associated LineItem.

The report is going to create a purchase order with the ItemSummary containing the general data like supplier, PO number, date etc and the LineItem will be the list of items being purchased.

It sounds to me as if it should be easy, I think I am simply missing something.

This can be done by using sub-reports. Have a look at the "Member details" report in the Library sample application for an example. The report shows member attributes like name and address followed by multiple related items like loans and reservations implemented as sub-reports.
