Hello,
I'm trying to build a simple app and am having problems with some more basic functions.
My general info are logic are as follows:
GENERAL INFO: AWARE IM ver 2.3, SQL 2000 database
Existing tables
USERS -Holds user information
TRANSACTIONS -Holds transactions (reference USER_ID in USER TABLE)
RESULTS -Holds final records based on user inputs
Table to be created:
TEMP TABLE -TEMP table will be created with SQL query (was a Stored Procedure) to get records based on DATE and USER_ID inputs
LOGIC:
Display FORM
Form gets 2 inputs
DATE (from date picker)
USER_ID (from USER table column as LISTBOX on USER_ID column)
Users selects DATE and their own USER_ID from LISTBOX on existing USER.USER_ID column.
ON clicking SUBMIT BUTTON, 2 values are input into a SQL QUERY as variables.
SQL query creates a TEMP table from TRANSACTION TABLE and inserts rows based on 2 input criteria, DATE and USER_ID. Reference USER_ID exists in TRANSACTION TABLE.
RESULTS of SQL query are displayed to user in an editable FORM
USER clicks a CHECKBOX of RECORDS from the TEMP TABLE that they want. (checkbox FIELD is a column in TEMP TABLE created with Query)
ON CLICKING SUBMIT BUTTON - TEMP table records with CHECKBOX selected are COMPARED to the RESULTS TABLE
If duplicate records are found in RESULTS TABLE - table of duplicate records (along wih other records with CHECKBOX selected) is displayed with a FORM.
User must UNCHECK Duplicate records and click SUBMIT to repeat COMPARISON test.
If no duplicate records are found, records are INPUT into RESULTS table and TEMP table is truncated.
RESULTS table is displayed to user showing records they just submitted.
In AWARE IM, I have done the following.
Created USER, TRANSACTIONS, and RESULTS Objects - Database Existing external
Created GETINPUT Object - NOT PERSISTED - to get my user input
I managed to display GETINPUT form to show DATE and USER_ID with a list box reference to my USER.user_id field, however it wants to CREATE a new record.
How do I tell AWARE IM to pass my 2 inputs into my Query, run the query, and display the resulting TEMP table when I click a GETINPUT SUBMIT button? (I don't want a CREATE button)
Also, am I able to just copy my Query SQL code (or a Stored Procedure)directly into the AWARE IM query and have it work?
These seem to be simple tasks, but I just can't get them. Any direction would be great.
