Importing data

Hi,

Does any one know how to tell AwareIM how to handle a data import.

For example I have a file with 20,000 items in it. 15,000 of the items are the original data with small changes. The rest is new data. How do I tell AwareIM to update 15000 of the items and import the remaining new items. The new items could be anywhere in the file. The unique identifier is the items barcode.

If I were to just do and update I would use *barcode but this would not add the new items.

I'm importing the data using a csv file into a temporary BO KundenImport.
This BO contains 2 rules that are responsible for updating/creating the data.

The rule that's responsible for updating existing records contains

FIND Kunde WHERE Kunde.KdNr=ThisKundenImport.KdNr
	Kunde.KHKID=ThisKundenImport.KHKID 
	Kunde.KdNr=ThisKundenImport.KdNr 
	Kunde.MatchCode=ThisKundenImport.MatchCode 
	...

The other rule that creates the records contains

If NOT(EXISTS Kunde WHERE (Kunde.KdNr=ThisKundenImport.KdNr)) Then 
	CREATE Kunde WITH 
	Kunde.KHKID=ThisKundenImport.KHKID,
	Kunde.KdNr=ThisKundenImport.KdNr,
	Kunde.MatchCode=ThisKundenImport.MatchCode,
	Kunde.Firma=ThisKundenImport.Firma,
	Kunde.FirmaZusatz=ThisKundenImport.FirmaZusatz,...

Hi,
Actually I think that it is simpler than that. If the Business Object ID is included with the record it is treated as an update, if no ID is provided it is treated as a new record. Just do an export of the object and check off 'Include ID Field' and either edit the data or add more rows prior to import.
