Hi Hubertus,
Yes, your understanding is correct. If there are several FIND actions in process rules, then all found instances will be placed in the context, which may be undesirable for further processing. So one way to avoid this is to create a separate process as you suggested that takes a single object as its input and then performs the second FIND and further processing.
Pete, there is also an alternative way of implementing your scenario, which is a preferred way of data processing in Aware IM. The idea is to move any processing rules from a process to an object when practical. This keeps relevant rules close to their objects and helps avoiding context-related problems.
You could add the following rule to object InstallationWorkOrder:
If InstallationWorkOrder.Workday IS UNDEFINED Then
FIND WorkDay WHERE WorkDay.EmployeeID=InstallationWorkOrder.EmployeeID AND WorkDay.WorkDate=InstallationWorkOrder.InstallDate
InstallationWorkOrder.Workday=WorkDay
If you enable Validate Data option when importing the file, the rule will be executed automatically for each imported instance. This way you will not need any process at all. If you do not want the rule to execute during import, but to update the imported instances later, your process could look like this:
FIND InstallationWorkOrder WHERE InstallationWorkOrder.Workday IS UNDEFINED
UPDATE InstallationWorkOrder
