wysiwyg editor

Hi,
I am looking to incorporate some basic cms capabilities into an upcoming application and I was wondering if there is anyway to use a text field with an attached wysiwyg editor like fckeditor to allow a logged in user to add formatted content. The next challenge would be to create some kind of user controlled menu system but unless I can provide some kind of basic html editing controls inside the application it is a dead issue anyway.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

We plan to incorporate HTML editor in the next release (hopefully). In the meantime you can use applets/Active X controls within a custom form. I am sure there are already such editors available on the market implemented as either applets or Active X controls.

Oh no, the dreaded custom forms again. I think that if I have to go that route or try to figure out Ajax it is not a great solution for me. I will wait with anticipation for the next release. I am really excited about having more control over the interface and this is just another example of the benefits of that capability.

In the meantime, I think that I will use an opensource cms system (I am leaning towards CMS Made Simple right now) and house the AwareIM application as one of the managed pages in the CMS, it is a bit backwards to what I was hoping to do but I think that it will work. As long as I keep the user logins and passwords in sync I can push the login info from the CMS using smarty tags and open up the AwareIM app using a direct link into a frameset with the login info embedded in the link url. If anyone is interested in the outcome please let me know and I will give them guest access once I have it up and running.

I can turn around web projects in a matter of days for my clients with DNN. Active Directory support w/full code was only $79. It is nuts. They also have a "MySpace" simulator so that you can create MySpace type sites with full code for less than $100.

Is there a wysiwyg editor and rich text/wysiwyg field type planned for in the future?

i.e. use a blob to store the content. There are a number of editors available that would be quite useful.

Ah there is a wysiwyg (plain text using HTML formatting) but does not include uploading and displaying pictures in a simple way for users.

This is really content management functionality, but it would be very useful.
