Hi,
I am having trouble inserting a sub document or sub presentation.
For example, let's say I want to print a Client Report that includes outstanding orders. In the Detail section of the Report, I insert tag items for basic Client data. Then, I would like to insert a sub report for the outstanding orders. My sub report runs correctly on it's own, but in the Client report it seems to start a new page for each order. Sometimes it simply creates 100 pages with only header and footer info. I suspect it has something to do with the height setting on the sub report space. QUESTION: Why is there a height setting on the sub report space, when it clearly expands to allow reiterated record printing. Thanks, Erik

You are right - it IS related to the space allocated to the sub-report. Try to allocate more space and play with the height setting until you get it right.

QUESTION:
I understand the idea of setting the width of the sub-report if I want it to occupy only the left, right or center portion of the main report, BUT why do I need a height setting when I want the sub-report to print all records that match the query criteria? (A coder friend of mine suggested that 0 could be the "null" or undefined height setting....)

ALSO, in my case I need TWO sub-reports, one after the other.
It seems odd to set height settings when I want each sub-report to fill whatever space is necessary.

Well, every element in the report designer must have height, even if the element can dynamically grow - this applies to sub-reports and also to text elements.

Hi,
Any hints on how to find the correct height would be greatly appreciated. I have been fighting a report with a grouped sub-report for two weeks off and on and I can't seem to get it to print the groups on the same page no matter what I do.

I can't seem to get this right and it has become my main obstacle.

In my case I need to print almost a full page of fields for each iterated record in the Detail section, then I need to print a series of related records in a sub-report.

The iterated records are the project details, the related records are the brief descriptions of the people involved (perhaps 8-10 per page).

It could just as well be a report on Customers with referenced Orders in reverse date order.

This is not such a strange situation, there must be a "correct" way to do this.

Any help would be appreciated.
